Our difference
“We’ve had the privilege of working with Lynne on a number of sustainability-focused projects over the years, including initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving resource efficiency within our own operations.
Seeing her channel that expertise into UpWaste Australia is not only timely for the sector, but a major step toward more resilient, circular and locally supported food systems in WA.”
-Fresh Frontier, WA
UpWaste’s founder, Lynne Loo, has worked for 5+ years as a researcher directly alongside growers, processors, and food & beverage manufacturers.
Seeing businesses come up against some common barriers to commercialising value-added by-products was Lynne’s motivation for starting UpWaste.
Lynne is particularly passionate about helping growers realise more value from their crops, seeing Australia’s high-quality products used and valued, and keeping primary production and food manufacturing onshore.
Evidence based knowledge translated into action and
tailored to your budget.

Based on growers we have worked with in the past, you may be missing out on additional revenue from anywhere between 3-15% of your annual crop in addition to the sunk costs of growing, picking, grading, storage, and so on which are typically at least $2 per kg.
Extrapolated over tonnes, the sunk costs and opportunity costs certainly add up.
Contact Lynne to discuss how we can help you to find markets and improve on per kg return for your currently ‘unmarketable’ produce.

The typical small to mid-size food/beverage manufacturer could potentially avoid $20,000 - $30,000 per year on disposal costs.
Contact Lynne to discuss how we can use our knowledge of physicochemical composition and end-uses to help you find markets or solutions for your by-products.
Recovering these operational costs in the long-term can be a significant win for any SME’s bottom line.

Whether you are a start-up or scale-up and ready to take on high volumes of consistent, quality feedstock, we can help source and set up reliable supply chain relationships for you.
Register your needs with us through an initial meeting (no cost).
By letting us know the types of feedstock you are looking for (e.g. high protein, low moisture etc.) we can actively help on an ongoing basis with finding consistent quality feedstocks that match the volumes you require.
We accept orders of any size, which is a significant benefit for start-ups or who are unable to meet typical minimum order quantities (MOQs).
Fees are only charged once the order is fulfilled, and we also assist with any dispute resolution should you need it. However, we ensure all businesses are vetted for quality when they sign on to our service.
Contact Lynne to discuss how we can help you with price discovery, procurement, and developing supply chain relationships.

Past case studies suggest avoidable food waste generally costs venues ~$2.60 per cover. Over the course of a year, these small, avoidable amounts add up.
Are you aware of how much food waste is generated in your venue from kitchen prep to plate waste?
Getting a handle on these volumes and the financial cost to your business is often the first step to reducing kitchen costs, saving food from landfill, and improving gross margins.
Ready to see how we can help you
turn excess into opportunity?
